What a journey to becoming a therapist, Chris! Loved reading this and understanding how your younger self made decisions that your older self can reflect and learn from
Oh wow, you haven't listened to them before? Check out the album American Beauty. It's worth listening straight through, especially if you have a long drive.
No! I'm a philistine when it comes to music, other than classical. Partly because I'm terrible with names of bands and songs. Thank goodness for Shazam!
The last time, Chris, I listened to something on a long drive was your podcast appearance! Next will be this album 😎
This was a great read, Chris — loved how you decided to tell this story. Dreams have always been an important part of my life and have helped create the narratives I use to make decisions. This piece makes me want to reconnect with my dreams in a deeper way than I have been recently. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks, Garrett! Yes, dreams can be so powerful, and I feel like they're generally underrated in our society. Most people I meet don't remember their dreams and have little interest in doing so!
Great piece Chris. And thank you for not calling it "chai tea". Chai is also the farsi word for tea and it is so annoying when people order chai tea. So you want tea tea?
Hasan Minhaj has a great bit about that in his most recent standup special. Also, in India most chai I've had was not masala chai! But the best chai is the kind you get from the chai wallah on the street corner, served in tiny clay cups.
He's one of my favorite comedians. It makes me happy to see him doing big things. Oh yeah that's true for just about every country I've been to. The good stuff is always found on the streets!
Wonderful sense of presence in both the amazing dream you share here, and your writing itself!
Thank you, Kristin! That's a great compliment, coming from you.
Loved reading this! The snake dream is so vivid…a really fascinating insight to how you made this life decision. Thanks 😊
Thanks, Sophie! Yes, dreams can have such fantastic and expressive imagery.

Thanks, Eric! Yes... in the words of the Grateful Dead, "What a long strange trip it's been."
Thanks for introducing me to Grateful Dead!

Excellent!
Though if classical music is your jam, I'd say you're far from being a philistine.
Great read Chris. Such an interesting journey.
Thanks, Kath!
