This explains why my brain lights up and produces a proliferation of best ideas for writing when I'm out on my bicycle. I should probably actually stop when I'm trying to write them down on my phone though.

In all seriousness, physical movement often opens up the flow of ideas. I don't have as much experience with cycling, but the greatest writers in history have all been great walkers, as well. Walking and running (and probably cycling, too) activates the default mode network in the brain, which is conducive to creativity and problem-solving.
