Iron Man (at least as portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU) is a uniquely American superhero. He has no superpowers other than his intelligence and his wealth, much of which he inherited. He's portrayed as quite narcissistic, especially at first, but does grow as a character over the course of the films. Even the crafting of his suit of armor reflects how people create rigid defense structures in order to protect themselves from feeling vulnerable. It's hard not to compare him to certain public figures we're all familiar with.
