So sorry you got hit with that Chris. I've heard this aphorism before re a healthy person has a thousand wishes and a sick person only one. It's obviously bang on when referencing physical health, but then it made me reflect and consider that almost the reverse perspective applies with my mental health. Having a thousand wishes, or desires, active in my mind/attention all at once is itself a kind of ailment or sickness in terms of my psyche. Having just one wish in my attention translates to things like focus, peace, commitment, devotion.

Having too many wishes/desires can definitely be problematic. On the other hand, I could also see it as a sign of health, in that the libido or desire-energy is flowing in natural ways: like, I want to have a successful business, I want to travel here or there, I want to eat at my favorite restaurant tonight, and so on. But it's more of like a normal, healthy ego quality than a quality of spiritual awakening. Is there a difference between desire and attachment? Maybe.

You make a good point. Having one wish can make you feel alive and purposeful. Having too many goals can often translate to feeling overwhelmed or scattered.

Thanks Serena. (What's your one wish?!)

Ooh, that’s a good question. I must have many because it’s hard for me to narrow it down to just one. No wonder I feel overwhelmed and scattered.

I wish for financial freedom, I wish to be able to write for a living, and I wish for my child to find health and happiness.

Those are good wishes! I wish that you get them! I'm making that my one wish for the next 15 minutes and sending that out into the ethers in case it helps.

Chris, it’s so interesting to follow your journey into the nomenclature of core value for health. I never thought of health as a value per se, so your angle is both refreshing and sharp. I appreciate this.

This is so true. Our health is everything and without it we cannot really feel whole. Thanks for this reminder - everyone needs to hear it.

It is so true, our health is usually taken for granted. One needs to consider good health their greatest gift! Glad you and Chelsea are on the mend! xo
